Palletised freight distribution network, Pall-Ex Iberia recently secured its latest Lean & Green star after reducing its CO2 emissions within all its hub locations by 35% over a four-year period. This significant reduction was due to the implementation of an energy efficiency action plan that focussed on consumption, reduction, and finding efficiencies wherever possible.
The Lean & Green program, promoted by Asociación de Fabricantes y Distribuidores (AECOC) in Spain, provides companies with verified recognition for achieving CO2-reduction targets within their logistical operation. Their action plan five-star framework supports carbon measuring and reduction as well as access to a range of different businesses with aspirations to become carbon-neutral and achieve the 2050 objective set out by the Paris Climate summit.
Awarded to Sergi Tomás, managing director of Pall-Ex Iberia at the sixth annual Sustainable Logistics conference in Madrid, this is the third Lean & Green star for Iberia’s leading pallet network.
"At Pall-Ex Iberia we work hard to ensure that all hub activity is as efficient and sustainable as possible, with actions that respect the environment and that can be maintained over time, such as the use of renewable energies or our network-wide commitment to maximum energy efficiency” comments Sergi.
Fossil fuels have been replaced at all of Pall-Ex Iberia’s owned locations, with cleaner energy sources and photovoltaic panels recently installed. The result obtained with these simple changes has been translated into more energy-efficient logistics hubs throughout Spain.
Mark Steel, Managing Director of International Business Units for Pall-Ex Group comments on Pall-Ex Iberia’s recent accolade.
“Sustainability is hugely important for all our networks across the globe and we are delighted that Pall-Ex Iberia has been recognised by Lean & Green. As a Group, we are always looking at ways to improve our business and minimise our impact on the environment. Huge congratulations to Sergi and the team on their most recent star.”
